The world is changing rapidly and the economic, social and ecological challenges are becoming ever greater. Urbanization, an ageing population, climate change, and resource scarcity are driving a new industrial revolution and the need for a circular economy. Accelerated technological innovation acts as a lever in this respect, with digital networks providing strong connections and interdependencies.
Real estate represents the largest group of assets worldwide and therefore plays a major role with a great impact because all these developments mean that completely different demands are placed on the functions of our infrastructure and the spatial environment in which we work and live. The real estate sector therefore largely determines how we will offer solutions to these challenges and how technology will be used for this purpose.
What can we do to serve the SDG's (UN Sustainable Development Goals) so PropTech solves problems and/ or serves needs for good (instead of sub-optimize / digitize real estate processes)?
So, i realise that books may appear slightly out of place in the Unissu forum, given our focus on technology but now and again big ideas require big pieces of work to fully explore them.
My podcast now has an associated Trello board (https://trello.com/b/URuKBKHX/building-our-future-built-environment-book-list) where i'm building up a reading-list to compliment people's work within a rapidly changing built environment.
If you've got any great recommendations, please do let me know. Otherwise, please check in from time-to-time as i aim to keep this up-to-date and relevant!
